What is Kashmiri kahwa?
Kashmiri kahwa is a spiced green tea served without milk across Kashmir, traditionally brewed in a samovar with saffron and whole spices. Fyonli’s Kashmiri Kahwa Premix blends green tea with real saffron, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves and ginger, so a cup needs only hot water. 150 g.
How do you make kahwa with the premix?
Stir 1.5–2 teaspoons into a cup of hot (not boiling) water, steep for 2–3 minutes and strain. Add honey and a few slivered almonds if you like, as is common in Kashmir.
How is kahwa different from chai?
Kahwa uses green tea and no milk, so it is lighter and lower in caffeine than strong milk chai, with the aroma coming from saffron and spice rather than sugar. Our kahwa vs chai guide has the traditional recipe.
Does kahwa contain caffeine?
Yes, a little, from the green tea base — less than a cup of coffee or strong black chai.
Is the saffron real?
Yes. The premix contains real saffron strands, the same Kashmiri saffron Fyonli sells as Kashmiri kesar.
