Description

Where Rudraprayag Mix Dal Comes From

Rudraprayag sits at the sacred confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers — one of the most historically significant geographical points in Uttarakhand. The farmers of Rudraprayag district have cultivated indigenous pulses on the terraced hillside farms of this region for generations, each variety adapted to the altitude, soil, and climate of this high-altitude Himalayan valley.

Rudraprayag Mix Dal is a curated blend of these mountain pulses, sourced directly from Rudraprayag valley farms and brought to your kitchen without processing, blending with commercial varieties, or any form of chemical treatment.

Why a Mix Dal?

Different pulses have different amino acid profiles. A well-formulated blend creates a more complete protein in a single dish than any single-pulse dal can provide. The mix also delivers broader micronutrient coverage — iron, zinc, folate, calcium — and a more complex, rounded flavour that single-variety dals cannot replicate.

Nutrition

  • Protein: High — multiple pulse varieties contribute complementary amino acid profiles for better total protein utilisation
  • Dietary Fibre: High — supports gut health, cholesterol management, and sustained satiety
  • Iron, Zinc & Folate: Broad micronutrient coverage from varied pulse types
  • Low Glycaemic Index: Dal-based meals are among the most blood-sugar-stable foods in the Indian diet
  • No additives: Just pulses. Nothing else.

How to Cook

Soak for 4–6 hours (overnight works well). Drain and rinse. Pressure cook with fresh water (1:3 ratio) for 3–4 whistles. Prepare a tadka with ghee, cumin, garlic, tomato, and turmeric. Combine and simmer for 10 minutes. The result is a thick, hearty, complex dal — deeper and more interesting than a single-variety dal, and nutritionally superior in every measurable way.

What You Are Buying

400g of a hand-selected blend of high-altitude Himalayan pulses from the Rudraprayag region of Uttarakhand. Sourced directly from mountain farms. No commercial mixing. No additives. No preservatives.
